When it comes to coaching: be it business coaching, personal coaching, or sports coaching the two minute drill is a must.
You ever wonder why sports teams have a habit of marching down the field and scoring in the last two minutes after they couldn’t be consistent throughout the game?
Then all of a sudden, SCORE, GOAL, TOUCHDOWN, are screamed across the TV and in stadiums around the world.
It’s the sense of urgency.
It’s the fear driving them that time is running out and if they don’t make something happen now they’re going to be adding one to the “LOSS” column.
That’s not what Champions expect. They’re completely aware of what pain failure causes.
We hate that feeling. It’s the thirst that will never be quenched but in the moment and then it’s back to work.
But when you score…when you win…
Nothing can replace that feeling. It’s heaven. It’s power. It’s achievement.
Most of all it’s performance when it’s all on the line.
The 2 minute drill can be used in your own life. You don’t have to be an athlete.
You have to be ready to perform.
I utilize this with the action items that I know are important / not urgent that give me long term results.
It works like this…
Take a timer, start the clock and get to work. Use your phone, your watch, an 20 min sand glass, I don’t care.
Just give yourself the 2 min to get started. Press start and go.
There are things in your life that you’re stressing out about right now.
When you use a trigger like a timer it helps you gain the right frame of mind of why you’re there.
It triggers your sense of urgency.
You can use it with the family, your work items, Fitness, cooking, and overall discipline.
It’s a very powerful tool when used correctly.
This is great for your non-negotiables to be the most elite version of myself, and you bet those 2 min drills are massive to being intentional with your time.
Get out of your own damn way!
