I’m going to be real honest with you…
I had a big miss understanding on what my role was as a father.
I pictured this constantly engaged, constantly entertaining, constantly playing with, constantly being at the mercy of my kids.
That is definitely needed in certain situations.
But what I devalued significantly was the power of just my presence.
Just being home.
Just being in the room.
Just being at the game.
Just being seen.
Just making them feel seen.
I made a decision when we moved to be here to support them in the all the major life changes we were making as a family.
And I learned the power of just being here.
They don’t need me to entertain them.
They don’t need me to be fully engaged in what they are doing all the time.
They just want me around.
They just want me smiling.
They just want my energy to bring positivity and confidence to them.
Come to find out that is the best time I spend with God as well.
Just allowing Him to be in my presence without expecting Him to do anything.
That’s been very powerful for me.
The quiet.
Just sitting with Him.
Allowing Him to just sit still and be present.
So know YOUR role.
