Embracing the Power of Presence: Transforming Your Life by Staying Grounded
I am a big proponent of being where your feet are.
The ability to be present is difficult especially when switching hats throughout the day between different roles in your life. Those who can master this tend to have wildly different results than people who cannot be present where their feet are.
The Challenges of Being Present: Balancing Priorities in a Multifaceted Life
That being said there are some downsides to this skill set being developed.
You are not worried about anything happening outside of the right now which causes you to miss things like saying happy birthday to someone because you have not been on social media all day and the only way you remember is because of that reminder.
Or to make sure your wife and kids are okay because you are focused on this podcast recording or coaching call.
Or missing a message from a client because you are trying to be a dad or husband or coach a damn 8U baseball team!
No matter what you do you are going to let someone down. Someone is going to miss the context or perspective of why something got missed and assume you did it intentionally.
Prioritizing Impactful Presence: Embracing the Trade-offs for a Deeper Connection
The reality is I rather miss something happening around me to be able to focus on what is happening in front of me. It has made me more impactful for every single person that comes in contact with me. The collateral damage is I am not as focused on what is happening not right in front of me.
I am sorry to everyone I have let down and will let down by focusing on being present where my feet are and continuing to try to make an impact with EVERY conversation I HAVE, not every conversation happening everywhere…
