Do you own a job or a business?
As an entrepreneur it is easy to get caught up in the day to day of what you are doing. As your business grows, so should your role in the business.
If you are the business than you own a job. Can your business run successfully without you?
Or when you take time off does your business shut down? If it is the later than you own a job.
As a business owner your business should be able to run independently from you.
This does not mean that you do not play an integral role in your business, but what does that role look like?
The business owner should first hire to what they are not good at or don’t like to do. Get out of that box. If you hate selling, hire a salesperson or two. If you hate finance hire a bookkeeper and so on…
Stay in the box you like until it is time to move out of that box.
Your role should eventually be as the visionary of the business.
The right people in the right positions will allow you the time and freedom to guide the ship and take it where you want it to go.
If you plan to exit the business if you own a business rather than a job it will be a much easier sale as a new owner can step right in and take over.
If you own a job what is the upside for a buyer to invest their time and money into buying a job? The business goes where you go!
Get out of your own way and build a business and not a job.
