Our lives are stressful, period.
We seem to be pulled in a lot of different directions between family, our career, our faith, our finances, and oftentimes sacrifice our fitness because of it. It feels like we constantly have plates spinning, just like that guy you see in the circus going from one wobbling plate to another just to find another, and another, and another…
How do we keep it all together? Well there is a formula that my one of my business coaches put me onto that has helped thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of highly successful people plug into this organizational method that just might make every bit of difference for you. It’s called Time Blocking…
Time blocking is how you organize your day with the most important things that need to happen with a formula to check those boxes that are most important to keep your mind from feeling like a whirlwind.
Remember how we used to have “Periods” in school?…it’s kind of like that but you’re the boss of it! The way time blocking works is by identifying four key components of your life that keep you leveling up both mentally and physically while honoring your loved ones and the most important relationships you have.
It starts with these simple pillars… Faith Family Fitness Finance See when you begin to place certain elements into your calendar that are imperative to the sustainability and growth of each of these pillars, your life becomes much easier. You begin to see a new level of areas in your day that offer you freedom, free time, and a high level of output because of the time allocation to each event.
My days start at 5am-5:45am with a shower and taking my vitamins, water, supplements and make breakfast to get my metabolism and mind ready to go! Then its time for some faith and relationship time with my love Beth. Between 5:45am-6:45am this is my faith and personal development time with Beth. We spend time reading our visions out loud to each other which is really important to be touching your senses to help your subconscious mind! Our visions are scheduled twice throughout the day too. Once in the early morning and again at 8:45pm at night. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Once we’re done with our visions and visualization exercise (30 minutes) we read the same book to each other out loud while alternating pages. We’ve become great at reading at least 10 pages aloud to each other each morning. Honestly we’ve become better speakers and more confident readers because of it! It’s something we really look forward to because it relaxes us and it puts our minds into a GREAT PLACE to conquer the day! I even have some friends that are doing this now and they say they love it! So if you and your significant other are struggling to find some uplifting routines, I suggest trying this…It’s improved our relationship and the others that I know who are doing it too!
6:50am-7:45am is my time. This is the time that I spend writing my thoughts out and getting my thoughts in order. It’s a no fly zone for anyone because it’s “Think Time” and I get a lot out of it. This has become an anchor for me because it’s important that I have these moments to plan the future and what needs to be executed throughout the day to achieve my critical tasks and where they fall in line on my calendar.
Then it’s FINANCE!… This is business time and very important. 7:45am-8am I handle any emails from the evening before that are urgent, or delegate things out that don’t serve my critical tasks that need to be done for the day.
8am-8:45am is reserved for talking with any teams I need to regarding setting up their day and making sure things are on point. When I’m project managing I like to spend time on 5 minute phone calls with each team member when they need it and getting them ready for the day so they know what the plans are. 8:50-10am is reserved for my first and hardest critical task of the day that I HAVE to get done. Generally this is prospecting for me because I sometimes don’t like doing it. But gotta build the business and I have to lead from the front! This makes my day go so much smoother. around 9:20 I take a break and text my love Beth, my mom, and my dad to say what’s up! It’s important to show your loved ones you care about them so I make it an effort on my calendar as a reminder because I can get hyper focused!!!
Here’s what it looks like… 9:20am, 1:35pm, & 5:15pm on a recurring basis which helps keep your loved ones feeling loved! That’s an easy 3 minute gesture that goes a long way to maintaining a healthy relationship. Once people are set up for the day and my first critical task is complete…it’s time for fitness… 10:30am & 1pm each day is workout time for me. The great benefit though is I can be at the gym while handling work right from my phone! The power of technology baby!!! PLUS most people who I may need to talk to are getting their most productive hours in or in meetings between 9am & 2pm.
Once Fitness is done then you have your time blocks in the afternoon that should be filled with critical tasks such as report reviews, one on one meetings, or team lunch meetings to track goals. These are important because your working ON YOUR BUSINESS!!!
This is a great time to get and stay focused for about a 3 hour period with two twenty minute breaks to help you refresh your mind and grab some fresh air.
