This is the best hack for Time Management and procrastination.
Yet 99 out of 100 won’t do this. But the 1 who will gets everything he wants.
Controlling your schedule with disciplined action.
I’m talking about time blocking.
If you’re doing it, great! How can you be doing it better?
If you haven’t done it I suggest you start by designing your perfect day.
Put it all down on your calendar for the whole week. Pick five to non-negotiables and make sure you do them. No matter what.
These are the things you promise yourself to becoming a better you.
For some that’s the exercise, core values, and who they want to become.
Now track your actual day by what you said you were going to do vs the time you did it.
What other things crept into your day that didn’t serve your ultimate goal.
What about your Important but not urgent. Find at least 30 min in your day to work on these items.
This is your consistent investment into your future.
It could be that task that has become annoying and always pushed to the side.
Training development is the biggest I see being placed to the side that is what you need to scale successfully, yet most are just focused on the here and now.
f it helps, set a timer for your 2 min, start it, and go. The two min of focus is to start the drill and get it done or as close to done in the next 30min.
Then watch how fast you get it done when you focus.
They even make sand glass timers for cheap online that can help you too.
Time Blocking is a habit not an art, so don’t overthink it.
Write out your ideal day with those nonnegotiables. The track what you did against what you said you were going to do. It’s the only way to evaluate you and get better.
It helps remove another problem too…YOU.
When things are standing in your way, it’s oftentimes you and this is what holds YOU together.
Just follow the process and refine it as you go.
Make sure you are investing time into yourself to become better as a leader and owner too.
And don’t be so rigid you can’t use adaptability. This is why most people fail. They don’t adapt to the situation and if you can’t get your non negotiables done that moment then everything gets off track.
NO!
Make adjustments to your day and flip flop things if they have to be. You sometimes need more sleep because you’re old like me!
Accountability, discipline, and patience are the keys to your long term success.
Time blocking works for this because you control YOU.
Then you understand where you’re making good and bad investments or your time.
It’s the best hack you can get for time management.
